Old Friends Come Together

The Bullringer and Roy the Boy from Yalleroi would like to extend a very warm welcome to two old and great mates, Macca and Jerry who are coming to live with us. Fortunately, there are many rooms in the House of Barcy and all the same size we are told, so there shouldn't be any squabbling about who gets the master bedroom.

We also know it is a sad time for Jerry and Macca, however we are sure they will get used to their new home before too long, and to help ease the pain Bullring Music is looking at a tribute song dedicated to these fine friends for inclusion on its forthcoming and eagerly awaited CD.

So welcome again to our friends Jerry and Macca, and as tough as it is please spare a thought for Roy the Boy, who has been searching the amalgamation report (see it here) but cannot find the name "Yalleroi" anywhere. He is having his computer checked to see if the "Control F" feature is working properly, however we think this the last forlorn hope of a deeply disappointed man.

Dear Anonymous,

As far as I can recall, December Sunn was a precedessor of Manic Depression. Most of the December Sunn lineup were also in Manic Depression. Tony (Gasper) Mansfield was the lead singer in December Sunn when they won Hoadleys Battle of the Sounds (broadcast live over
4LG), but he left Barcy and moved down south - to Toowoomba I think. From memory, December Sunn then disbanded. Peter (Bones) Fisher, Jeff (Doonga) Faulkner and Gary (Lick Bird) Alexander then formed the Ides of March, with Dennis (Squawker) McQuaid on lead vocals. Somewhere along the line, the Ides of March also disbanded, from which Manic Depression emerged, with Norm Fraser and Moose White on lead vocals. I recall one night when Manic Depression was playing at the Shire Hall, Norm Fraser took over lead vocals for a couple of Spencer Davis Group songs - one I recall was I'm a Man. It was one of those rare and truely memorable occasions of musical magic - someone should have had this session recorded.

Regards,

Roy the Boy from Yalleroi
